Young Explorers Ethos

Our aim is to give young children the opportunity to explore, imagine and connect with nature, in nature. In a unique and secure setting we develop relationships with and in the elements. We weave in green topics such as respecting the environment, re- and upcycling and encourage children to recognize there’s a big free playground on our doorstep. Using natural provisions and recycled materials, we like to encourage children to be innovative, minimise environmental impact and connect with their future environment – how to treat it and look after it. Children are encouraged to use tools to create and make things in order to develop practical skills, improve their physical motor skills and become emotionally literate.

We support the groups to enjoy the freedom, allowing time and space to explore and investigate, and make their own sense of new and familiar places. Children are encouraged to be independent, make choices and take responsibilities. We provide resources and environments to stimulate their imagination and senses. Children are always encouraged to follow their fascinations and interests allowing them to develop at their own pace.

Sessions run term times only. We follow BaNES School terms

Starting

Please contact Isa for more information, a show around and settling in arrangements. In order for your child to start we'll send you a registration and a child record form.

Fees, funding and payments

Families are entitled to 15 hours of funding a week, and up to 30 hours, if eligible. Payments are paid a month in advance and funding is deducted from the monthly invoice.

How old does my child have to be?

Children attend the year before they start school. However, if you feel your child is ready for the outdoors, we have had starters at the age of just before 3.

How about cold and wet weather?

Children need to come prepared in appropriate clothing. Please keep an eye on the weather. We do have an indoor space if we need to shelter and can get warm and cosy.
